Adapted from FCA's Dan Britton...
"God, You are my God; I eagerly seek You. I thirst for You; my body faints for You in a land that is dry, desolate, and without water."
March Madness has a lot of people thinking about basketball. One fun thing to watch is a player posting up near the basket, demanding the ball so he can score. There is a lot of contact near the basket, where the big and strong thrive, and it is a battle.
Life also has posting up every day. It's a battle, and it's for positioning, but it's not about basketball. This kind of posting up involves me and the Lord.
Every morning, I post up to get the Word of God in me. Since I joined His team, I've realized that I have to call for the Word daily and seek His face. I need to be ready, prepared. I have to post up. When it comes to the spiritual post-up, I've learned three helpful tips:
- Establish position. Many people have never gained position over the competition - the flesh, the devil and the world. We need to face away from the competition and live a separated life (Romans 12:1-2). We must have a strong stance and not be rocked by this world. We need to stand strong against the opponent. It's a daily battle.
- Call for the ball. One only posts up for a purpose - to get the ball. Are you calling out to the Lord and asking Him to show up and to speak to you? To reveal to you the deeper things? He desires to pass His Word to you daily, but you need to ask for it.
- Make a play and score. Once you get the ball, you are in the position to make an impact. Each day, when you fill up with God's Word, you are ready to serve, minister, love and invest in others.
