Light in a Black Hole

In talking with people about ministry in Prince William County I have often referred to it as a black hole. All around Prince William County there are incredible visible movements of God in FCA as well as local churches. It is hard not to get discouraged when you feel like your efforts fall on rocky soil. But in this black hole of ministry light is flickering in the middle… Hope.

I had a conversation with an acquaintance not too long ago where he told me he was moving to Prince William County, because he felt God gearing up for a tremendous movement here. I don’t know this guy very well so I took his optimism with a grain of salt, but I prayed he was right. He is right. In my limited experiences with FCA and my local church God is shifting the culture of our county.

Amazing things are happening on high school campuses around the county through FCA! At Hylton High School a group of varsity football players have made it a point to minister to their team. So they invited a local student pastor to lead a devotion before every game and God is changing the entire team! Woodbridge High School has a huddle starting for the first time in years. The student leaders are desperate to see God move on their campus. How awesome is that?! People from across the country are investing with their funds toward FCA to see the mission of Christ be advanced. Local churches are locking arms with me as we move forward with plans for a nearly free camp in Dumfries (our most under-resourced town in PWC). Youth pastors are catching a collective vision to see every student in Prince William County hear the gospel before they graduate.

In my local church (I love my church) homeless people are coming on a daily basis to our small warehouse and accepting Christ’s salvation! It’s amazing! People who would never step into a church or bible study are showing up in droves to hear the Word of God. Those who are followers of Jesus are growing in their depth of relationship with Him and are more alive than ever. My good friends are taking the gospel from their church buildings into the woods with the homeless population that lives their. Providing beds, jackets, food, and Living Water to people who feel forgotten by society. And Prince William County is beginning to feel a little less dark than it ever has before. Thank you Jesus!
