Get In Touch

Life is lumpy!  One doesn't have to live long to find that bad stuff happens and each of us will find ourselves in circumstances that we can't wait to get out of.  Our response is almost always the same - How can I get out of this?  Yet, we know that smooth seas never made a skillful sailor.  Deep down we know that the easy times we desire do not cause us to grow like the tough times.

Look at what is written in the Bible in Romans 5:3-5: And not only that, but we also rejoice in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance, endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope. This hope will not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Affliction is an unpleasant word!  But look at what is on the other side of it - endurance, proven character, and hope that will not disappoint!  One little word change can help us switch our mindsets to be open to the Lord using difficult circumstances in our life to grow us.  Instead of asking "HOW can I get out of this?" we need to ask "WHAT can I get out of this?"

That little change will help lead us to see the wonderful results produced inside of us instead of focusing on how quickly we can get out of the unpleasant situation in which we find ourselves.  Not HOW?  WHAT?
