All I Know Is...

During conversations, in an effort to make her point stronger, my sister KK will start with "All I know is..." It is the big statement, the main point, the bottom line.  One of the best "All I know is" statements of all time is actually recorded in the Bible in chapter 9 of John's Gospel.

Jesus is walking with his disciples and they point out a man born blind and ask Jesus if it was his sin or the sin of his parents that caused his blindness.  Jesus answers no.  Classic.  Either or and Jesus replies no.  Him or parents?  No.  Jesus then does an odd thing.  He spits on the dirt, makes some mud, and smears it over the man's eyes. He tells him to go wash it off and when he did he was healed.  Everyone should have rejoiced and many did.  But the religious people were upset.  (This still happens today)!  They interrogated the man and told him to swear that Jesus is a sinner.  John 9:25 contains the man's classic response:

The man replied, “I don’t know if he is a sinner or not. All I know is that I used to be blind, but now I can see!

That is my story.  I don't fully understand the mystery of Christ opening my spiritual eyes when I was in high school.  All I know is that I used to be blind, but now I see!  I used to search blindly for Him, but couldn't find Him, even in church. I knew about Jesus but I didn't know Him and didn't even think that was possible.  What happened?  All I know is that I used to be blind, but now I see!

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.
